Happy Retirement Home '11

Ignite Youth had a trip to visit the Happy Retirement Home once again on the 29th of January.
This time around we visited them was to share the joy of Chinese New Year with them.

The youths gathered at Hunza early in the morning before heading off to the destination.

Of course we did not arrive there empty handed. We brought along variety of dishes and a gift for every residents over at the Happy Retirement Home.

The uncle in the picture above was telling me how delicious the food was.

I was quite certain he did enjoy himself throughout the time we visited them.

I was happy to see that Ignite Youth are able to bring happiness and joy to the residents. The songs we sang and the drama performed by our youths put a smile on their faces.

Before leaving, we gave each of them an angpow.

Not forgetting, everyone went round to shake their hands and wished them "Blessed Chinese New Year".

It is blessed to be a blessing for us to visit them and celebrate this festival together, regardless old or young.

Report on IGNITE-Youth Camp 2010

IGNITE-Youth camp is an event that the youths of Penang First had anticipated each year. This year the camp is held in Penang Hill from 1st to 4th of December 2010. The camp theme for year 2010 is ‘Reaching Out to God (Acts 17:24-28), Reaching Out to Others (Jeremiah 1:9-10)’. There are a total of 80 campers participated in this year’s IGNITE-Youth Camp. The camp speakers are Rev. Julie Khoo and her team from Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Petaling Jaya (GTPJ). Praise the Lord that He had ministered to the youths strongly throughout the 4 days and 3 nights.

In the 4 Wheels Drive.

During the first day of camp, due to the current renovation and maintenance of Penang Hill Railway Service, the alternative mode of transport up to the hill is 4 Wheels Drive via Penang Botanic Garden. The transport was provided by the management of Bellevue Hotel.

The Obstacles Game.

The first night revival meeting of the camp was conducted by Pastor Danny Tan, Asst. Youth Pastor of GTPJ. He and his team lead the youth into various ice-breakers and games. At the end of the games, Pastor Danny taught on the meaning behind of the games. He mentioned that there is a race marked out for all of us differently by God. We have to be persevered and should not give up and will choose to run the race and run it well.

The next morning started as early as 5am due to the limited availability of bathrooms and water. Though the day started very early, the youths had a great morning meeting with Pastor Danny again. The Lord ministered powerfully. Pastor Danny shared on the Living Water that we need to reach out to God so that the overflowing of God’s strength will touched us and others too.

The youths had wonderful time in the afternoon with various activities and games. Accompanied them during the games is the beautiful view of Georgetown.

The second night revival meeting started at 7.00pm. During the Praise and Worship, God moved. Many prayed strongly in tongues. The speaker for the night revival meeting is Rev Julie Khoo. Rev. Julie challenged the youths to read the Bible. She also warned the youths to guard against temptations (the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life). The meeting ended at 9.30pm with the rededication of life and confession of sins to God through prayers and altar call.

The third day started early too with the same reason as the previous. Nevertheless God still moved mightily during the morning session. During the meeting, Rev Julie allowed the youths to take a rest in the meeting. Through the short time of rest, there is the move of the Spirit and many were renewed both spiritually and physically. After that, Rev Julie share on her personal experience. Many were touched by her sharing and some even moved to tears when they entered into the intercession for family members who were yet to be saved. The second half of morning session was light-hearted one as each colour group were given scripture verses and themes in the bible to illustrate through skits. Each group came out with creative ideas. The session ended with lots of laughter.

The youths had games challenge again in the afternoon. They enjoyed the water game at an open space overlooking the panoramic view of the city.

The last night revival meeting started at 6pm, 1 hour earlier than previous 2 nights. The youth fasted from dinner to wait upon the Lord. The night revival meeting started with power-packed praise and worship. The Holy Spirit moved strongly tonight as the youths yearned and hungered for more of the Spirit of God. Rev Julie shared from Jeremiah 1:9-10 which in line to the camp theme. She shared on how to reach out to others. She encouraged the youths to reach out using the example of prophet Jeremiah in the Bible that the Lord has used Jeremiah after He anointed Jeremiah’s tongue. After the night, many of our form one's and those who yet to be filled with the Holy Spirit were baptized with tongues of fire. The night revival meeting ended when Rev Julie, together with Pastor Danny Tan, Pastor Richard Chen, Sis Poay Peng, Sis Angeline prayed for all the youth leaders and blessed them with Words from God.

The last night of the camp, the youths were blessed by the presence of the senior pastor, Rev Marcus Tan and Sis San Nee when the whole campers broke fast together. There was great fellowship among the campers. Accompanied the campers is the beautiful night view of Georgetown.

The last day of the camp was greeted by the drizzling rain, fresh air and coolness of the weather in Penang Hill. God is good. The last morning session, Rev Julie challenged the youths to submit to leadership, to be humble at all times and to be alert of the surrounding needs.

The IGNITE-Youth Camp 2010 ended at 1.30pm when the youths lined up to board on the 4 wheels drive from the hilltop down and back home thereafter.

I.G.Nite!

If you wonder what did I.G.Nite! stands for? It stands for Into God Nite. Well,Praise God for that.What a wonderful and awesome concert we had on 30th October 2010 the last saturday for this month. We would like to thank God for the success of the concert.Without Him,nothing can be succeeded.

Before the concert started,we have prayer. Everyone was holding hands to pray, spoke in tongues and let the Holy Spirit touches and flows in us.

After prayer,we started a small ice-breaker first to get ourselves ready before we start the concert.The ice-breaker session was fun and all of us enjoyed ourselves. It's something we can get to know each other more through this game.

Few minutes passed, the concert started.Everyone can't wait to praise and worship the Lord.The concert was great because we can see youths are really passion for God. They really offer their hearts to God and confess that they love God a lot.The presence of God is very strong. Most of them even speak in tongues, they set whatever burdens aside and focus on the Lord and be filled His presence. Besides, they also lifted up their both hands, truly worshiping God. All the glory and praises to our Most High God, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Moreover, even the new comers also lift their hands to worship the Lord when the concert was about to end. It is believed that the songs we sang and played by the musicians do touched them and the most importantly God touched their hearts and lives. It's undeniable that the concert was really an awesome and blessed concert ever and the most important thing we held this concert is to save souls and lost one.

Last but not least, Praise God that we had around 100+ youths attended. We believe seeds were planted and a mighty harvest from God is coming!

Movie Nite - Letters to God

Hey guys and girls! Since we do not have any announcement last week about what's going on this week, I'm sure a lot of you have been wondering what are we going to do this coming IGNITE-Youth. Well, wonder no more for we have a great movie in-stored for all of you! Still remember our last Movie Nite titled "One Night With The King"? It was way back on the 15th of May 2010. If you miss that, I'm sure you don't want to miss this movie this time! Remember to bring your friends along too.

"A heartfelt tale of inspiration, hope and redemption, Letters to God is the story of what happens when one boys walk of faith crosses paths with one mans search for meaning—the resulting transformational journey touches the lives of everyone around them.

Tyler Doherty (TANNER MAGUIRE) is an extraordinary eight-year-old boy. Surrounded by a loving family and community, and armed with the courage of his faith, he faces his daily battle against cancer with bravery and grace. To Tyler, God is a friend, a teacher and the ultimate pen pal—Tyler's prayers take the form of letters, which he composes and mails on a daily basis.

If you wonder, DUMC stands for Damansara Utama Methodist Church. Their music team came down last weekend (31st July 2010) to minister to our youths and threw a concert for us. We were very blessed by their ministry and not to mention, learned a lot of things from them as well. Something more about them..

"DUMC is a Cell Church. A Cell Church is a non-traditional form of church life in which small groups of Christians (cells) meet in a special way in their homes to build each other up in Christ and to evangelise the unsaved. It is a church which defines its cells as the basic building blocks of church life.

The cell church is built on the principle that all Christians are ministers and that the work of the ministry should be performed by every Christian. According to Ephesians 4:11-16, God has provided apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors and teachers to prepare God’s people for works of service. Such a church is not built around the assembling of all its members, but rather the clustering of believers in “Basic Christian Communities” or “Cell Groups”.

Every believer is equipped to do the work of ministry through these Cells. The Cells may cluster for area “Congregation” activities, also assembling regionally for “Celebrations.” The life of the church is in its Cells, not in the building. While it has weekly worship events, the focus is always kept on the Cell."

Prayer Ride + Durian Outing

IGNITE-Youth Prayer Ride was funnnnn! On the 3rd of July 2010, we went to various places in Penang to pray and intercede for our land. Penang has many strongholds that must be broken down and non of these can happen with only bare hands but prayer can! The most powerful tool ever that God has given us.

After a long day of prayers everywhere, we even stop by to savour our Malaysian's most famous durians! The youths enjoyed it for sure. Take a look at the pics...

I'm sure a lot of you know about this event which was held on the 12th of June 2010. We apologize for the lack of updates but we can assure you from now on that this blog will be updated at least once a week and maybe more! So do come visit us often as we bring you news after news of God's faithfulness.

First of all, we would like to thank GOD for the success of the event. Truly without Him, nothing can be succeeded. Although the plannings were a bit too rush, but God is faithful as we put in our time and effort in praying. He is our God who answers prayers! :)

Praise God that we had roughly around 180+ youths attended. We believe seeds were planted and a mighty harvest of God is coming!

But before revival takes place in Penang, let revival take place in each and everyone of our hearts first. We can all be the mighty warrior of God everywhere we go if we allow Him to use us.

Isaiah 53 (The Life and Destiny of our LORD JESUS)

1 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,

Youth Pastor

Pastor Richard Chen graduated with Bachelor of Music Performance in year 2005 and Master of Arts in Theological Studies in year 2009. He answered the call to come back to Penang after 8 years in Sydney, Australia.

Currently, he is the youth pastor in Penang First IGNITE-Youth, Chaplain of Boys' Brigade Ministry and worship pastor in Penang First Assembly of God.

Together with his wife, Lim Poay Peng, they believe God for greater things to come for IGNITE-Youth.

Hiking Trip to Pantai Kerachut

And Ignite Youth is kicking off the year 2010 with a trip to Pantai Kerachut!!

Where is Pantai Kerachut?

Pantai Kerachut is a scenic beach located at the National Park of Penang, Teluk Bahang. To get there, we need to hike for about 2 hours.

Date: 2 January 2010 (Saturday)
Fee: NONE!

Here are some important details:
~ We will be meeting at Hunza Complex at 7 a.m. sharp.
~ Do bring along some food and plenty of water as they will not be provided.
~ Bring along some money too if you wish to take a boat ride back.

Rev Lisa Chin graduated from the Bible College of Malaya in 1983.She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical studies. She was officially installed as Associate Pastor of Revival Centre in 1985. Pastor Lisa is married to Pastor Ronnie and they have a son, Shawn. As a helpmate to the senior pastor, she relates well to people of all ages – often offering a shoulder to cry on and help in the most practical of ways.She oversees the Children, Youth and Intercessory ministries in Revival Centre.
Besides serving faithfully in Revival Centre, she led the A/G District Women’s Ministry for many years, serves in the Youth Alive Malaysia and A/G Prayer Commission Committee
.
An experienced worship leader, she leads in worship at least once a month and always has a warm smile and encouraging word for all she meets.

She also speaks at various church, women and youth events, sharing from the Word and operating in the gifts of the Spirit. It is her desire to help people experience spiritual breakthroughs and guide them to fulfill their destiny in the Lord.

Penang First Mega Food Fair 2009

This is the very day all of us looked forward to. Indeed, it was a successful event! Though it was tiring to those who were helping, but the joy of the Lord is our strength! So at the end of the day, we enjoyed ourselves more than we helped. Ignite-Youth has decided to help at the games corner.

              So at 8am, all of us were there to finish up the decoration and setting up the stall. Past 9am, was the official opening ceremony of the food fair. It was true indeed when our senior pastor said the whole week has been raining nonstop. But on that morning, it stopped raining for awhile, and a rainbow appeared! God truly works in ways we cannot imagine, doesn’t He?

              Through out the whole time, it was packed. Everyone was snatching to buy, being afraid the goods, beverage and food they want will be sold out. The sales were so good that some were sold out after a few hours. The best part is seeing little kids trying hard to score for the games. Some were even hooked to the play station games.

              It’s never tiring or boring doing God’s work. Somehow, you find the joy working for Him. Even though there is the H1N1 disease, still by the grace of the Lord, many turned up! Hope to help out the next food fair and see our church!
